After postponing the 2023 Christmas Boat Parade because of heavy rains, fate dealt us another bad hand: the Mathers Bridge could not be opened because of mechanical problems. So, for the first time ever we had two parallel parades: One, as per plan along the Grand Canal, for boats that could pass under the closed bridge and joining other boats who were already on location. The second parade was held at the same time in the Indian River along Merritt Island north of Dragon point and circling back into the Banana River south of the Mathers Bridge. The Santa Claus boat "Story Time" was in the lead with Santa and followed by many tall boats.
Problems notwithstanding, the 2023 parades were successful events!
